Away v Humberside - Saturday 26th / Sunday 27th February 2022
Week ending 26th - 27th February saw Dorset playing an away match against Humberside. Nearly all of us travelled up Friday setting off in the morning as it was a good 5-6 hours away. Humberside’s home venue was at The Inglemire Club in Hull, a nice venue with plenty of practice boards we arrived by coach nice and early Saturday and made ourselves at home. Humberside were sat 8th in the league table some 19 points below us we were 4th, but anything can happen in darts. So how did we do?
Womens B
Up first for Dorset Lily Woodrow who came from 0-2 down to force a deciding leg but Lily loses 2-3. Julie Boggust (17.15) up next back in the squad v Cheryl McLoughun (16.82) Julie always seems to score well but struggles at times around the double. Julie goes into a 2-0 lead no messing at the double either, then Cheryl takes the next (Julie missing 32) Julie’s well in front in the 4th leg but it’s all about the double and she gets first crack at tops hitting a big 5 then a 3 to leave 32. Julie hits three doubles (yes 3 doubles) to take a 3-1 win. (WELCOME BACK MATE) Next up Macie Woodrow (21.17) what a cracking finish from Macie 18 18 bull to take the first leg. Close 2nd leg Macie breaking Humberside’s throw to go 2-0 up. Two tons from Macie in the 3rd leg and she’s well in front leaving tops Humberside back on 273 Macie taking a 3-0 win and no surprise takes her 2nd consecutive Lady of the Match trophy for the Ladies B.
Claire Mabey (18.48) v Vicki Tasker (17.98) what a cracking close match this was first 4 legs all close all going with throw to force a decider Claire against the throw. Roz Annetts (19.05) v Kim Fuller (20.33) up next and another cracking match. Kim starts with a 140 but it’s an evenly scoring first leg both had chances at the double leg to Humberside. Kim pokes 66 and Roz is trailing 0-2. Better 3rd leg from Roz and Kim’s back on 162 as Roz pulls a leg back. Roz well in front in the 4th leg then from nowhere Kim hits the first 180 of the weekend and goes onto take the win and was Humberside’s Lady of the Match. That left Donna Mabbatt on last for the win ? Donna goes into a 2-1 lead, then she’s way back on 147 as Humberside level to force a deciding leg. Nice 140 start for Donna and she’s well in front in the deciding leg leaving 60 Humberside way back on 215 but Donna can’t find that winning double and loses 2-3. So match result Humberside 3 Dorset 3 a draw.

MARTIN'S THOUGHTS
Dorset never give up coming from 7-11 down on Saturday to get a 20-16 Victory. What a tremendous team effort and what support, we took over Sunday hardly heard Humberside’s supporters despite their hats and Pom Poms which a few Dorset players were using. Nice we were dancing on the chairs to the walk ons “pretty to watch” and a MOST ENJOYABLE WEEKEND made the 5 hour journey worth it and we’ve moved to 2nd in the league table on 173 games Kent top on 188 games but a chasing pack with only 4 games separating the 4 teams below us. Let’s not get excited yet we need a good result home to Buckinghamshire to make the MAGIC WEEKEND worth while. If we can replicate the support we showed against Humberside then we are unbeatable. Our two youngest players (Dorsets future) Liam and Macie well played.
What a GREAT A teams we have. Green Army marching on and getting stronger. Onwards and upwards.
RESULT
Humberside 16-20 Dorset
Women's B Drew 3-3 // Mens B Lost 4-8
Women's A Won 4-2 // Mens A Won 9-3
